Today was our last expedition day. On Mondays every monument is closed, so we strolled around, went to Beihai Park and the ancient Houhai neighbourhood. We sweat madly and I got a sore throat, probably due to pollution. In the evening we had the good-bye dinner at a Beijing duck restaurant.
From here, everyone has his own program. Some return home immediately, some explore Beijing for a few days before flying back to Switzerland or taking a train. Gaby will travel back with Nick by the Trans Siberian train, Philippe, André and I will take a high speed train to the Yellow mountain and later to Shanghai. We will fly home on August 7th.
My blog ends here. Great thanks to everyone who visited, to the comments you left and the feedbacks you gave. It was an unforgettable, rich life time experience and it will take some time to have all the impressions sorted and I’m looking forward to reading more about the roads we traveled, the cultures we met,1500 years after the peak of the Great Silk Road, at the emerging New Silk Road pushed by this fast growing Giant called China.
Safe travels to everyone ！
