Istanbul - Ürgüp Cappadocia

Today we drove 700 km. The roads were in good condition. We left Europe and entered Asia in Istanbul. We were impressed by the size of this fast growing city. Huge skyscrapers made of concrete and glass burst into the sky, new apartment houses for thousands of people emerge in the suburbs. It felt good to leave the city behind and drive through Anatolia. Green fields, large forests, grassland and no houses offered a peaceful beautiful scenery. It reminded me of the Jura. The people seem to be living in the cities where we observed a high density of new buildings.

Late afternoon we reached Cappadocia, a dry plateau in Anatolia with a unique geology and fascinating history.
